and then it ended. The fall is turning out to be warmer and drier than most, but the signs of the approaching extended cold are there nonetheless. Now is the time to prepare for the Winter. So put away the Halloween stuff, dust off the soup recipes, and find a warm hat. Then enter the 17th Annual Knottlane Ice-In Contest.

The rules again, are simple. The first person to pick Wisconsin's Lake Lucerne 2024 ice-in date here wins $50.00. The second person to select that date wins $25.00, the third wins $15.00, and the fourth wins $10.00. Any picks after fourth place will win our thanks for playing. One entry per person. About every 24 hours, we'll put pending entries into the selected dates area after they're purged of dups and bots. Until then, pending dates will be listed in the "Pending Dates" Column. The decision of the judges (The College of Loons, Lake Lucerne's oldest and most mysterious semi-secret society) is final. This offer is not valid in any state or country where it is not legal. Past Ice-In Lore
On December 8th, 2022 the lake went from all open to mostly closed. It would take one more day to be completely covered with ice.
By December 9th, 2007 the ice was already 6 inches thick.
Ice-In came early in 2013. By the second of December, the ice was 4 inches thick close to shore, somewhat thinner in the middle.
Ice-In came even earlier in 2014. There were eagles, flaming shots, and Schaefer's celebrated by adding a drive through to the brat stand.
