Wetter and Cooler

It was cooler last week. With the exception of 1 or 2 days, it was almost autumnal. In contrast with the bitter bits of fall, came some much needed rain. In between the rains came a bit of Canadian smoke.

At the start of the week we got a rare (for last week) hot day and about a third of an inch of rain.

At the end of the week we got drenched with an inch of thundery wetness.

The plants seemed to be happy at this damp turn of events.

The first ski show of the week hit the water before the storms.

The second and special alumni shows were not so fortunate. We should get less rain and more pyramids next week.

The new era of low fire danger and puddles was celebrated by some in a ginormous manner.

Others solemnized the storms with a more low key sit in.

And a few others just attacked each other.

We were told this is some sort of eagle mating ritual, but it sounded more like a fight over a nice fish or squirrel.

The lake temperature held at around 74°F. It would be better with a few more degrees, but it's warm enough after you get used to it.

If the water proved to be too cold, there was always golf. The NCC course is in good shape and, as of late, surprisingly uncrowded.

The deer are lurking on the edges of the roads and highways. They seem to be looking for a good car to dent.

After the rain on Sunday, the air temperature dropped and the lake steamed.

The lake level is going back up! Even if we get a few dry weeks, getting boats off lifts should be hassle free for a while. This year, Summer was quick and strong out of the gate, but has stumbled as we are getting close to the peak. There still should be plenty of time left for the season to pick up the pace and deliver a few 80°F weeks filled with sun and cicada sounds.
