Unlike past weeks, last week was dryer. Like past weeks, last week was about 10°F cooler than normal. The lake temperature is getting close to the 40's°F and the air has been described as "crisp". Especially in the mornings.
Most boats and lifts are out of the lake.
A few lifts are still in waiting for that pontoon crane guy.
If he chooses to pull them out on a clear night, he's got plenty of light from a fuller and fuller moon.
All last week, leaves were colorful and mostly on the ground.
Golf courses still have tees and flags, but not many golfers.
The recent rains have pushed water hazards over their banks and onto nearby fairways, making them resemble a large diorama of Lake Lucerne's current state.
Many speed bumps have been crossing Potawatomi Trail. Be extra careful on the roads.
The speed bump clean up patrol has been hovering over the North side of the lake daily.
The good news was we got less rain last week. The bad news was about 2 inches deep.
A clearer sky made for some great sunsets and downright cold nights.
On Saturday, many gathered at the bar to carve pumpkins. Some dressed in costume.
A dozen pumpkins were sculpted, some with printed patterns, but most freehand.
They turned out pretty well.
So far, it's been a cooler Fall than we would have liked. The pressure to get this year's ice-in contest up is growing faster than usual. Watch for it either this week or next. The snow looks like it'll melt this week and be gone long enough to squeak in a few more rounds of golf and hang some Christmas lights.
