Rain

May 30th through June 5th, 2016

Last week was a wet one. It started off with a mostly clear sky. Then the first batch of clouds came. Then the rain. The first storm yielded about half an inch of rain. Not bad, but the lake level isn't going to go up much given the Summer evaporation rate. We emptied the rain gauge and hoped for more. Then weekend came. And with it, an excellent amount of rain. The lake level is going up! The North Shore Yard Puddles are back! As they seep into the ground, the artesian nature of the lake will push that level up even more!. Some projects around the lake were not helped by all the wet. The lake temperature hit 68℉ around mid-week before dropping back down to a more refreshing 66℉ by the weekend. Few swam. In between storms, the water was pretty flat. After the last weather passed, the sunset got all sun-doggy. All the sky water was celebrated with a bar night that featured bacon. In soda form. We truly live in a wondrous age. Since we've been keeping track of such things, the water level of Lake Lucerne usually peaks around the end of June. With just a few more inches needed to get back to the "normal" lake level, we might make it back this year. If we get those few inches soon, it'll be fun watching some piers being covered over by the lake.

-Nemo, roaming the northwoods on a bacon high.
