Early last week, it was pleasant looking enough, but cold. There were frost warnings, ski show members shivered through practices, and Woman's league golfers donned Winter jackets before hitting the links. All that changed just after mid-week.

At the start of the week, the lake temperature fell to the 64 F "Blue Swimmer" range. Some swam anyway. They smurfed up nicely.

By the end of last week, the lake was warm enough to check the temperature by diving to the thermometer with only small patches of smurfism. Sixty eight degrees Fahrenheit. That's cold for most lakes, but warmish for our deep blue body of water.

Last Week, the Crandon Water Shows ski club held two frosty practices. The first show is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15th. One of the only things that would cancel it is lightning.

The ski show would have been canceled last Friday. A short, intense storm preceded the weekend. It added a quarter of an inch of water to the lake and knocked out the power on Knott Lane for over a day.

All the water, sun, and heat has fiercely greened up the hills between Lake Lucerne and Metonga.

Local golf courses were also greened up along with being a bit deery.

It's becoming a challenge to keep up with the grass. Mowing has become a twice a week event.

Most, if not all, the ski boats around the lake are in. There seems to be more first time skiers this year.

Fish continue to be pulled out of the lake, cleaned, cooked, and plated. The fishing usually remains good through July.

The neighbors have a new puppy. Local squirrels seem more anxious.

Mrs Nemo celebrated the new hot with a cold beer that highlighted her ordinality.

Others (me mostly) celebrated with a more traditional northwoods brew.

With the mid week storms and the precipitation we got late Sunday night, we got about an inch of rain last week. The lake level is holding. If we get another water event, some piers will be under the lake. Being under the lake is getting more comfortable with the water temperature pushing 70°F and it's one of the only places outdoors that does not have something trying to suck the blood out of you.<br><br><br>-Nemo hates ticks, not a fan of mosquitoes either.
