Of Pig Pieces and Parties
July 28th through August 3rd

The heat continued last week. As expected, there was lots of skiing, running about advancing behavior (golf), and meat on bones.

The flat did not continue. Some took advantage of the wind and waves to kite surf. It was amazing to watch.

Starting last Thursday, and running for three days, was the annual Pig in the Pines ribfest in St Germain (about a fat hour from the lake).

The winner this year of the coveted Knottlane Nod of Ribmanship went to Texas Outlaws. You would be hard pressed to find a better pig-cicle.

Pigtails, normally a strong competitor, tied for the bronze this year. Good, but others were better.

Also tied for the bronze was Hog Wild Barbeque. They were saved from the ignominy of fourth place by a strong sauce showing.

A new contestant this year, Big Bone BBQ, took second place.

We were glad there wasn't a fifth entrant as we slowly waddled back to the car..

On Saturday, well after the meat sweats had passed, it was time to attend this year's Lake Lucerne Advancement Association's Fun Days. There were lots of people, an auction, and food.
There was also a picture hanging on a wall that has inspired similar drone shots of the lake.

{insert buggy Summer line here} But really, the mosquitoes have been a pox on a great Summer. Attendance would have been even better had word gotten out that the Bratmaster of the Universe was there. He was cooking hamburgers.
There was much to bid on. The hats of cultural insensitivity naturally sparked the most energetic bidding.
After losing the bidding on clearly the best items, the auction was dead to us..
Nicolet Counrty Club is getting a little fawny, but the holes are in otherwise good shape.
There are only three more water shows left this year. See you at 6:30 PM on Wednesday at Water's Edge.

Summer continued to braise right along last week. Lake dwellers were seared during the day and finished off at night with slightly lower temperatures. There was also some liquids involved that added flavor to the fun. Some were garnished with limes. The heat and dry-ish weather has reduced the lake by almost three inches during July. We are calling for the addition of much sky water for August to make up for this. Let's hope that whoever has control over such things is following the reciepe.

-Nemo should have kept some of them bones to gnaw on at night.              Previous   Next
