	August 4th through 6th, 2000

The weather was poor. It was coolish and rainy all weekend. We took advantage of the non-heat to do some local hiking. First up was the eutrophicated lake we call the "Sponge Forest" just to the west of Sugarbush Hill.

It was quite a stroll. Ducking wet branches and stepping fast over the occasional bee hole on the way down was easy compared to doing the same thing going up.

The second hike on the list was a tromp to Lake Dawson. The small, but surprisingly deep lake, is located about a half mile down logging roads to the North of Lake Wabikon. We had planned to fish the shore after finding it, but a boat was found.

If you love to catch stunted bass, Dawson is the lake for you.

On Saturday night we gathered around a campfire on Knott Lane and a small fuzzy joined us.

Mrs Nemo's reaction to the small fuzzy was predictable.

The weather was such that we visited some of our favorite bars in Rhinelander and Crandon. It should be noted that when demonstrating conservation of angular momentum on the spinny bar stools at the Arcade, you should first do a safety check to see if any peoples are within range of soon to be flailing limbs ( It looked bad, but she'll be fine. I, on the other hand, was almost fatally embarrassed). The lake temperature is over 75°F, which was better than the air temperature for much of the weekend. Mrs Nemo demonstrated her baseball smacking skills by pegging me with a screaming line drive during a point filled game of 500 at Cardinal park. Ouch. We had to leave Sunday to get back to work but we'll be limping back to the lake next weekend.<br><br><br>-Nemo, don't get me started with kinematics.
