Rainbows and Loons

June 30th through July 8th, 2000

It rained a few times this week. That's good. The lake is up five inches since spring. The lake temperature also went up from 70 F when we got here to 76 F by week's end. The little girls xxLt ordered arrived and were mostly not damaged in shipping. It's been rumored that there is a giant pontoon boat crusing around on Lake Lucerne. The reports are true. We caught a glimpse of the custom made beast as it slowly made its way around the north end of the lake. Wow. Other lake craft have kept their classic shape and size. A wee bit down the road from Antigo are the Marthon County Dells. They are well worth the road trip if you are in the area and it's too rainy to enjoy the lake or golf. Sliver removal surgery: just one of the many services provided by Mrs Nemo. There was SCUBA diving (we recovered an anchor and a brass ring.) There was skiing (the new boat is great.) There was fire tower racing (Mrs Nemo is the current record holder with 54 seconds from the bottom of sugarbush hill to the top.) But mostly, there was the lake. Lake Lucerne is hitting its summer stride. Fish are jumping into the boat, skiers are carving up the surface, and swimmers are losing that bluish hue they had earlier in the year. It'll be Fall before you know it, so drop what you're doing and get up here before the loons and rainbows are gone.

-Nemo: fish, ski, swim, repeat.
