We made it up North partly to check that the items pulled from the water were secured for the Winter and to do laundry, but mostly to carve pumpkins. The weather cooperated in that there was no rain or snow and plenty of sunshine. Huzzah!
To test the stability of items to be left on the shore for the Winter, they were topped with small weights that were then instructed to jump around. All items passed and the small weights toddled off to carve pumpkins.
For the uninitiated, the knives, spoons, and pumpkin guts can be a little frightening at first, but they got over it.
The uninitiated soon after became the experienced and the gut scooping, face carving was joined.
It was sunny, but wavy all weekend. It gave those that bravely dismissed the cold water an excuse not to ski. That, and there were no ski boats in. No one except "Whale Face" swam. With the shore stuff secured and the pumpkins decorating the lane, we headed back to Milwaukee but vowed to return soon.
