Lights and Laundry

December 20th through 22nd, 1996

Lake Lucerne
We arrived late Friday with the twin goals of doing laundry and checking out the Christmas lights in Crandon. There was ice, snow, and cold. Pretty much all you would expect in the northwoods in late December.

Now getting dad a snow removal contraption for Christmas is akin to getting mom a vacuum cleaner, but it's really cool and will also help in fort construction for the upcoming bottle rocket war.
Lake Lucerne
Laundry was uneventful, but the lights in Crandon are not.
Lake Lucerne
The court house square and main street were well lighted and mostly plowed.

Tom Perry's was of course the finest display of electric holiday spirit this side of Hwy 64.
Lake Lucerne
Even the main house was aglow with thousands of tiny bulbs.

There's a seasonally festive ten inches of snow under all those lights. In addition to that, the fine dining in Crandon was enjoyed this weekend. The soups at Duck's on Friday were chicken wild rice and some other lesser type. After Laundry we lunched at the Arcade and were pleasantly surprised with great service and food. After taking in the light show that is Crandon, we took in the Winter sky while sitting on the lake and enjoying a bottle of wine. We'll be back up in a few weeks for the 6th Annual Lake Lucerne Bottle Rocket War.
