We made it up late Friday. On Saturday morning, we got to see the first snow of the year. It was less than a half an inch but it stuck and was cold. The lake is still open as expected, but there are signs that ice-in could be sooner rather than December.
Despite the white coating, the condition of Knott Lane is not so bad.
Judging from the shore ice, a November ice-in looks more and more likely.
The bar in the northeast corner of the lake is open on Friday and Saturday according to their lakeside signage. Plus they have ice, which is not as important this time of year as during the Summer months. The fact is, during late Fall and Winter, ice is more the problem than the solution.
We canoed about a mile south, cut across the middle, and then came back along the East shore. Most piers are in and most rocks on the shore have a coating of ice. There was also laundry and on Saturday night, a fine dining experience at "The Rose Room" (formerly the Lake Metonga Supper Club). By the time we get back, the lake should be ice covered and there will be a few more inches of snow.
-Nemo should have covered that paddle boat.
