We needed rain. The start of the week delivered and added some wind and other storm elements that reminded us to be careful when wishing for something.

Monday's main rain event was windy and deluge-y.

The big hail was something we had not seen in decades if ever.

The lake was half an inch deeper by late morning.

Just before the last Monday ski show of the year, it started to rain again.

The rain let up for the show, but the wind did not. Despite the waves, the Crandon Water Shows team did an amazing job of pyramidship and not dying.

Wednesday's ski show had less wind and more crowd.

The acts were as good as the previous show.

On Thursday, heavy rain hit Lucerne again.

With the stuff that fell early Friday morning, the lake level was pushed up an inch.

The Oneida County Fair started at the end of the week. There were rides and screaming.

And carny games.

And tasty, but nutritionally dubious food items.

Follow the clearly posted procedure on the signage. No small talk, no complaining and do not hesitate or change your mind while at the front of the line or...NO CORN DOG FOR YOU!

On Saturday, the LLAA held the annual Lake Lucerne Fun Day. There were burgers.

There was also an auction, kids games, and a paddle wheel thingy. Those being held hostage to the grills and fryers did not get to see much of that.

All the rain and heat has the corn tasseling nicely.

The burdock is tasseling nicely, too.

On Saturday, the plan for golf after church was to get in 5 holes, wait out the coming storm in the little house on 6, and then finish the final 4 holes. It almost worked. Almost. Man plans, God laughs.

Regardless of last week's rain, hail, and soggy golf, the lake level fell 2.5 inches for the month of July.

All the rain, wind, and hail that blessed last week was gone by Sunday. With all the rain, we thought the lake level would hold onto last month's depth or at least be close, but no. Lake Lucerne has not been this low at the start of August for 10 years. Last week's rain was good, but we need more. Though we could do without the hail and wind.<br><br><br>-Nemo didn't get a corn dog.
