Summer With One Autumnal Blemish

Summer, with one exception, went full "Dog Days" last week. Excluding the Wednesday anomaly, highs topped out well into the 80s°F, the wind was light, and the sun was brutal. The haze from Canada's poor forest management continued to enfoggin the air, but seemed to be getting better. That, or we're just getting more used to it.

Early in the week, the boat landing got a load of rock that fixed the "power loading hole". Huzzah!

This guy has been floating around the north end of the lake all week. Mrs Nemo and I saw him come down about 25 feet from us and grab a fish. It was a horrible tragedy that I did not have a camera with me, but it was probably more tragic for the fish.

Later in the week, we came across a fish convalescing in some deeper water after some eagle lovin'.

Before the weekend, the days had mostly clear skies with just a touch of the previously mentioned wild fire haze.

Evenings were clear with Tuesday's being particularly clear. This led to a peculiarly cool Wednesday. While the days surrounding mid-week pushed well into the 80s°F, Wednesday struggled to get to 60°F.

What Wednesday lacked in heat, it made up for with a ski show.

The last show for June is scheduled for next Wednesday at 6:30 PM at Waters Edge. The Pre-show starts just after 6:00 PM.

The lake temperature went over 75°F last week. This made escaping the heat by hiding under the water more enjoyable and a far less hypothermic event.

Chippers are having trouble getting one into the bucket on the raft, but are having no trouble hitting the lake as evidenced by golf ball collection dives.

The fish, with the exception of that convalescing one, are very active on the cribs.

The bar's squirrels have settled into a pattern of rubbing their little paws together menacingly, plotting evil, and giving passerbys the stink eye.

It rained on the weekend. We got a total of 0.9 inches on the north end of Lucerne. Normally weekend rain would cause the crowd to boo, but we really needed it so...Huzzah! The rain also washed most of the haze from the air, so we have that going for us, too. The lake temperature (last we checked) is at 77°F. It was noted that the lake temperature is not homogeneous. While going for golf balls laying under 15 feet of lake, we found a distinctly cooler Lucerne starts at about 12 feet. About 20°F cooler. It's best described as very refreshing in a most unpleasant way. Finally, I'd like to thank the criminal that took the deal on Thursday morning thus freeing me to escape under the lake rather than be trapped as a juror for the rest of the day.
