The high temperatures did not get into the 80s°F last week. We saw some mid 70s°F at the start, but those faded into the high 60s°F by the weekend. The calendar shows that meteorological Fall has begun. The lack of daytime heat seems to confirm that.

Morning lows had the lake giving up its heat with some impressive steaming.
Lake Lucerne
The lows have taken the heat from the lake. Near the weekend it fell to 72°F. Still swimmable, but slightly blueing.

The heat that was is still echoing in the fruits of many gardens and the need to frequently mow lawns.

Many late planted sunflowers are doing their best to push Autumn back at least visually.

This year's crop of milkweed pods suffered a bit from a road cut back, but there are still a few to be found.

We'd like to thank everybody for making this year's golf event an amazing success that included great people, good golf, wonderful food, and later on not throwing up on the floor.

It's been a good, if not great, Summer, but it might be nice to convalesce for a while. After a few months, many of us will see a reduction of our pronounced limps and there won't be so many pained screams when taking a bad ski fall, or rapidly changing direction on the tennis court. Or getting up out of a chair. The lake's water level has dropped 2 inches during August. It might be wise to get the boats off the lifts and into the garages while they can still be floated off.

-Nemo hoped for a longer Summer, but really can't complain.
