Summer, now with more Eagle!

July 12th through 18th, 2021

Lake Lucerne
Last week was a hot, sunny mess that surrounded a Wednesday filled with enough wet to cancel the ski show and ensure pizza, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

The ski show on Monday bounced along on rough water. It was pretty good and no skiers were hurt in the production of the show.
Lake Lucerne
The Monday show also had one of the best eagle flyovers ever.

As aforementioned, the Wednesday show was rained out.

And was for some reason replaced by pizza in Rhinelander.

In other non-pizza related events, the North shore of Lucerne now has a place to get your hair cut!

And while supplies last, all hair cuts include a free piano.

That strange fuzzy bird is nice and all, but this yellow one is our current favorite.

The squirrels and the bar have come to an understanding. We keep the bird feeder filled with seed and they will continue eating them.

The bugs have not been that bad this Summer. Last week continued that trend. With the weekly rain and heat, you would have expected the DEET-less to be drained of blood in just a few minutes, but no. Huzzah!

If you like your golf sunny and hot, last week was the best golf ever.

Our only beef with the course is the hole locations. A meter to the right and 2 meters closer to the tees on 4 would have been nice.

There were 7 sunsets last week. Some were more citrus-y than others.

On Sunday, this guy plucked a rock bass from Lucerne about 5 feet from the knottlane webcam. We cameralessly watched the entire event and then walked down Knott Lane to West Shore Drive to get a picture of him as he ate and rested in a white pine.

The lake temperature is getting close to 80°F. It usually gets there around this time of year, but as hot as the days have been, clear and cool mornings have had the lake steaming. We are still hopeful it will get there, but the current 77°F isn't bad. The midweek rain came in the late afternoon, leaving plenty of time before the wet to swim, ski, golf, tennis, fish, dive, and slap the occasional mosquito. There was even talk of Rafto. That, coupled with the 3 days before and the 3 days after the rain have left the men in a state of sore exhaustion. Energy Drink stocks are running a little low but pain reliever inventories are at acceptable levels and are being augmented by well garnished ethanol taken internally at the end of the day.
