To be honest, there was far more water than fire nearer the lake last week. Unless you count the fires in the furnace burners heating cabins or the odd campfire, there wasn't much warmth on the shore at all. In addition to plenty of cold, there was a goodly amount of rain early last week, too.
Plenty of hot here at the end of the Knottlane Board Meeting and Pool Party in the extreme southwestern corner of the lake. Enough to apparently set some of the hills in front of a few cabins on fire. Oddly enough, the fires started on the top of the hour beginning at 8:00 PM. They were extinguished in about 5 minutes only to start again an hour later.
Lucerne usually gets pretty flat at night, but the ponds here get coordinatedly rough every 15 minutes after sunset.
Not sure how it would be possible, but it would be pretty cool if this could somehow be added to the already fantastic Crandon Water Shows Jazz Line act (First show, the "Smurf Show" (so called due to the blue hue of the performers skin after exiting the lake) is scheduled for Wednesday, June 9th. See you there?).
The trees here continue to be in full leaf and seem to thrive on the heat with only little signs of stress..
Late in the week, the Knottlane Board Meeting and Pool Party adjourned. Ties, liqueur, and swimming suits were packed and attendees headed back to the North end of Lucerne. While crossing the lumpy part that separates the extreme southwestern corner of the lake from Water's Edge, the heat in the air and the patterns in the clouds foreshadowed Memorial Day's lakeside events.
We're back, baby! Not that we ever left (at least in our hearts). And accompanying our backness. are a plethora of new drink ideas, tannedness, and other passed motions that are sure to dress up Summer of 2021 and enter it into national beauty contests where it will be a sure thing to win. Any cash prizes should be distributed equally between boat gas, energy drinks, and ibuprofen with just a bit saved up for propane (Summer may be here for awhile, but Winter is coming).
