Last week was a smorgasbord of Winter weather. There was cold, very cold, thaw, snow, and ice served up under a sneeze guard of clouds and stars. In the end, the lake ice grew thicker, the ground whiter, and the roads more unpleasant.
On occasion, the buzz of ABS brakes ended with the muffled thump of a bambi bonking.
A call was made to the DNR to ask for the free, and bumper tenderized taste treat. They never returned the call. As Christmas approached, nature added a festive flocking to the roadside decoration. A short time after that it disappeared.
The lake is still frozen and is expected to remain that way well into January. Or is that June? In any event, the ice is a welcome ingredient in the 30th Annual Lake Lucerne Bottle Rocket War scheduled for the evening on Saturday, January 16th. Currently the air is cold enough, the ice is thick enough, but we could use a bit more snow for forts.
