Falls's End

Last week started off a little cool but there was sun! The blue and bright made the cool feel a little less so as it danced on the surface of the lake and our faces. And our hats. It may have felt a little less cooler, but it was still hat weather.

Highs were above freezing and lawns remained green. The grass contrasted nicely with some of the more colorful birds.

Gliding above the lawn, birds were larger, less blue.

Early in the week, we put the drone up after sunset to see if we could get a night picture of the lake. The video feed from the aircraft was mostly black so framing had to be done by sense of smell. My olfactory sense seems to pull slightly to the right.

The last ski show of the year didn't include any actual skiing but rather the removal of the covers that were accidentally left on the boat lifts.

The impressive gymnastics displayed by xxLt in getting the covers off in the cold and dark were amazing. Except when he stepped on my finger during the last ladder ascent. That wasn't amazing.

There was golf! The sunshine and ample parking combined with the ignoring of the Course Closed sign to make a most enjoyable round.

Bumpers around some of the hazards made them less hazardous.

Other water was un-bumpered and ready to add a few liquid-y strokes to poor shots.

There was no golf on Sunday.

It's unclear if the 4 inches of snow will all melt before the next arctic blast. What is clear is that Fall is over. It's time to replace rakes with shovels. It's time for snowblowers to supersede lawn mowers. Most of all, it's time to enter the annual Lake Lucerne Ice-In contest. Click on the contest button in the upper right of the main page. There's currently little ice on the shore and the water temperature is 45°F if that helps.
