Still Wet

Last week continued this Spring's moist theme. As the week progressed, the rain began to slow. The end of the week was wet, but the precipitation totals were just under a tenth of an inch.

We headed up at the start of last week. It was noted that downhill skiing season is not over on the lumpier parts of the country.

The knottlane board meeting and tanning invitational is over. The weather in the extreme Southwestern area of the lake was warm and much was accomplished, but it's good to be closer to the shoreline.

Note to self: If the rain is followed by a freeze, bring in the glass rain gauge.

Peak trillium season is just 51 weeks away!

By the end of the week, the lake attained the minimum temperature required for swimming. Few chose to join toe to water and those that did smurfed up nicely in just minutes.

The forecast is calling for a dryer period which is good. We could use a time out from all the rain. The inflows continue to run strong and there is more than one pier that has been swallowed by the lake.

The first bar night of the Summer season was a moderately attended affair filled with craft brews, new glasses, fire, and cream. We missed you.

The lake level is very high. Just a few years ago, many thought it would be a decade or more before the waters recovered from the drought. They were wrong. The estimated lake level for June is coming in at 18 to 20 inches above the nail. There are a number of piers that are at or even under the water line. The warmer water will be a welcome comfort for those tasked with raising them up.
