It was nice out at the start of last week. Temperatures were not too cold, the sun was out, and there was no snow on the ground. By the end of the week, that all changed.

The start of the week also featured a "Super Moon". Kinda cool, but meh. If you could tell it was slightly bigger than normal, you're a better lunar observer than I.

We passed by Copper Mountain on our way back to the cold. Of the runs visible from I-70, it looked like there was a bit of snow on Rosi's Run. Overlode and Ore Deal were snow free. You might want to wait a day or three before getting a lift ticket.

The pumpkins that have been sitting on the deck since pumpkin carving weekend will have to wait a little while longer before going out to the woods. New baiting rules prevent feeding the deer until after gun deer season.

The lake level is down two inches from the start of the month, but it's still over the nail. If the ice were to go in today, Lake Lucerne has gained 14 inches over the course of 2016. Hazzah!

We'll be setting up a time lapse camera (Thanks ALF!) to get a movie of the surrender of the lake to Winter. It should be pretty cool. Ha!

The water temperature is very un-warm but there is currently no ice on the North end of the lake. That should change soon.

Lake Wabikon froze over on Sunday. Usually Lake Lucerne freezes over about two weeks after Wabikon. Usually. With no ice currently cursing the lake, it seems unlikely. But you never know. There's talk of an assault from the rarely seen First Horseman of the Snowpocalypse. Albino Thanksgiving is currently predicted to ride his frozen Butterball over the Northwoods, basting the area with snow and ice, and pushing tee times well into Spring. Gentlemen, start your snowblowers. Put away your golf clubs.<br><br><br>-Nemo, Living in a Winter Wonderland.
