The lake temperature hit 79 F last week. Jumping in off piers and docks no longer has that antarctic thrill it once possessed. This might make you unhappy if you're a penguin. We non-penguins were ecstatic by this turn of events.
The lake was warm and the sun brutal. Some protect against sunburn by applying sunscreen of spf 30 or better. Others cover themselves with about 5 feet of lake. Some do both (until we need air).
The fish are active. And Curious. If you dive down, grab on to something and remain still, they fin over to you and start a staring contest. The fish always win because, under the lake, gills beat lungs.
No matter how much you enjoy visiting under the sea, eventually you have to climb the steps out onto land to eat and stuff.
The air has a bit of a chill when the sun goes down. Campfires can remove that touch of cold. Ours included some large stumps.
There's still a few ski shows left in Summer's tank. You should see them all.
An eagle has been winning staring contests with local fish all week.
By the end of the week, the bar's lot line was prettied up. New Times Roman!
The final week in July can be counted on to be one of the best of the year. Last week was bright and hot with fun dripping off every ray of sunshine making its days some of the best of the year. There was some rain last week, about an inch. The lake level is holding for now, but we need more storms, particularly at night. I really want to get some lightning over the lake pictures.
