Welcome Back Summer

May 16th through 22nd, 2016

Lake Lucerne
Last week saw the lake area pass from Spring to Summer.
Lake Lucerne
Because we started the week in the extreme Southwestern corner of the lake, we didn't get a live view of the early week Lake Lucerne Spring/Summer inflection point. We did see a lot of fountains though.
Lake Lucerne
Knottlane Fun Fact: The path from the extreme Southwestern corner back to the lake is occasionally really lumpy.
Lake Lucerne
The trees around the lake started last week as nothing more than gray sticks ('cept the pines, but they don't count). By the weekend, leaves were exploding from every branch.
Lake Lucerne
The forest around the lake hit peak trillium last weekend. If you missed it, there will be encore performances for the next two or three weeks.
Lake Lucerne
We are also at peak tulip.
Lake Lucerne
The first dandelion peak is past. If you missed it, the second, third, fourth, nth, dandelion peaks will be coming around until late October or until the weed and feed takes effect.
Lake Lucerne
The ducks are back.
Lake Lucerne
Skiers are back. The water is above 60 F (not much above) making the screams of the lake immersed mostly more subdued. Mostly.

The good news is that Summer is here. Time to put away the coats, boots, and snowblowers and bring out the boat lifts, boats, piers, and cocktails on the deck. However, not all the news is good. We haven't gotten a good rain in like five weeks. The lake level is dropping. Fast. Rain is predicted all this week, let's pray we get it.
