Summer Bonus Period
August 25th through 31st

Last week started poorly. It was cool, rainy, and the lake temperture threatened to drop below 70℉. This is typical for the dwarf season of Fummer, but we needn't like it.

By midweek, the air grew warm, the lake flat-ish. and the moon full. The June, July, and August full moons are called Skier's Moons for obvious reasons. Don't forget those navigation lights! We wouldn't what to run afoul with Rangers or Sheriffs.

There was plenty of skiing done by sun light and, a short time later, the high pressure fuel pump on the boat died so we didn't need those navigation lights.

In other events filed under non-skiing, the Crandon Water Shows team's next show will be in June 2016. The closest thing to a show we got this week was the drying of the team's boat lift covers. There was no music, crashes, or announcer.

You might have noticed as you passed by the bar that one of the trees is a little sick. As an amateur arborist and chainsaw owner, it was determined that some trimming might help.

I think it looks better already. Plus, hey, free firewood. Thanks to all the people passing by offering to help (getting a rope, first aid, calling 911). It was appreciated.

The road to the dump is now paved! No more of the shame of having to haul garbage down a gravel road for us. Huzzah!
The fawn hazzards on the 5th hole at NCC only need go about 35 yards north to graduate to hood ornament.

As the lake temperature soared into the low 70s F, we dove.

There were lots of golf balls to be recovered from the lake bottom. The water has been very clear for this time of year with no algae blooms.

Sunsets were spectacular after mid-week. The sun was quite obscured behind the cold and clouds (mostly clouds) before then.

If not for a high pressure fuel pump, we'd have been skiing instead of taking sunset pictures.

The boat should be back soon, which is good. The best skiing of the year is had in September and there are plenty of undone items on this year's Summer list that require skipping along the surface of the lake. Most people up here are hoping that this bonus period of Summer continues well into September, long enough to be considered a double bonus period. We're betting the over and leaving the boat lifts in.
