Ugly Start, Beautiful Finish
June 23rd through 29th

During all of last week, there wasn't much rain. During the start of last week, there was much wind. Then there wasn't. It made for an interesting time.

Wind. Combined with water levels significantly higher than when piers and lifts were introduced to the lake, caused no small amount of
higgledy-piggledy. There was much diving for pier parts on Tuesday.

After the wind event the lake enjoyed a flatness that was legendary. Some reveled in the smooth by cutting through it.

Others flew over it. Either way, there was much rejoicing. There was also no small amount of aches and pains by week's end.

The flat water may have contributed to the best ski show of the year.

Between ski runs, there was much catching of breath/lawn mowing.

As do most epic tales, last week's warm air and smooth water had its villains. During the weekend, black-hatted, mustachioed miscreants (tubers) tied up a lot of the tranquility to metaphorical railroad tracks. They eventually moved on to similar displays of athleticism (waxing their moustaches, sitting, sleeping, checkers) and the lake was returned to a state of righteousness to be skied, fished, and footed upon.
