Memorial Day Week + 1
May 26th through June 1st

The first three weeks of May were not moist. There was some rain, but not much, and the local bodies of water reflected that. Lake Lucerne was down over an inch. Thankfully, it was a wet one last week. In two sky-water events, we got the kind of rain that pounds picnics, grounds drones, drowns forest fires...and raises lakes. Yay!

For those keeping score, there was one point eight inches plus another one point seven inches from the first storm. After adding in the watershed, the lake went up over four inches. A good week!

And the inflows are still a flowing!

Twelve point five inches. The lake has not tasted this level since 2006.

All that rising lake water has warmed past the minimum required temperature (62℉) in which to sanely expose un-wetsuited skin. Sixty five is not great, but you won't die. Well, not right away.
There was also some flat last week. Only a small amount was skied up.

It may have been the best skiing of the year. Sure, the water was a little coolish and the air was at times very damp, but there was an abundance of smooth between those drops and tubers have not yet crawled from their caves. If you missed it, as some of us did (that house refused to paint itself and that concrete needed a crew to make it all pretty and stuff), it's early. There will be more. Much more.
