It was time. Time to pull the storms. Time to put in the water, lifts, and boats. Time to add piers, hooks, and lines to the lake. It's time for the great annual migration to the North. Schaefer's parking lot was very full.

Mosquitoes. No, that's not right. Mosquitoes! That's better. Dense formations of blood sucking pestilence patrol the littoral areas of Lucerne's lower atmosphere. They're in the woods, too.

Sunsets, when not blotted out by large swarms of bitey bugs, have been fantastic this week.

Many trillium are fading to purple, but some wonderfully white ones are still to be found.

A dock is in at the boat landing. It really helps when putting in/pulling out boats and we were told that it may grow by one more section soon-ish.

We finally found the courage/recklessness to pop the drone up through the narrow slit between the trees that is the south part of Lake Lucerne Drive. No trees were trimmed during the "popping".

The lake is up! The inlets on the south end that had been mudlets just a year ago, are filling.

The gap between the islands is looking really flat and inviting.

At the end of the week, the bar was opened to celebrate a graduation. There was food, beverage, and drone videos of last year's ski shows. You should have been there.

It started Sunday evening and is still going on as this is written. With all the rain we got, along with all the rain forecast, next Monday's monthly lake level check is gonna be good.

In one of the structures at the LLAA's place, there is a picture of the lake from a plane. Over the years, we've seen reproductions of this image on other walls, curios and even placemats. Since knottlane got the drone it has been our mission to retake that image. Mission Accomplished (Full resolution version here).! Yay. The new assignment is to get the same image during the middle of summer, at peak color in Fall, and peak snow in Winter. That, and maybe a top ten list of the cottage signs around the lake. We've always loved the "Skunks -n- Munks" sign, but there are several other really clever and well done placards out there. We'd also like to offer a hardy thank you to the several people we've met as of late and complemented us on one or more of the aspects of this site. As long as folks enjoy knottlane, we will continue to provide updates, contests and other data on beautiful Lake Lucerne, despite the snow and mosquitoes. Both of which we had this week. The snow didn't stick around much. The mosquitoes did, though. Having them on stage at the same time...that was a first.
