The Greenening

Last week started with just a whisper of green. By week's end, that whisper exploded into a roar.

Grass, trillium, weeds and other plants close to the ground had been green for some time now. At mid-week the trees started to join them in a rush of non-gray.

The fiddleheads are up and we're told very tasty.

The yellow flower glut on the North end of the lake drove the price of dandelion futures to an all time low.

With the extreme greenening came mowening. The smell of freshly cut grass filled the air for days.

Then came gardening. Bendening over tendening crops was never our favorite. Enter the raised gutter gardens. Beany goodness in 54 days all at waist level! Truly we live in a golden era.

The old Copper Country restaurant has reopened with a new name. Yay!

The knottlane webcam has been sendening images of the lake to the interweb for over 7 years now. It has had some mysterious issues with right and left movements as of late that could be a sign of impendening doom. Research is under way by our crack cam team (aLf mostly) on a replacement should that become necessary.

The first ski runs are just weeks away in our new green and blue world. The fishing seems to have picked up if the number of fisher people on the lake can be used as a metric. The deering has also picked up with several denting cars and taking dirt naps on the side of Hwy 8. Be careful while driving, especially at sunset. The bugging is at summer levels with gangs of mosquitoes cruising the outdoors for blood. Other Summer pests have been thankfully absent due to the cold water (59°F) and the un-inflatedness of their tubes.

-Nemo wonders if a fiddlehead would make a good garnish.
