Springy

March 31st through April 6th, 2015

Lake Lucerne
This last week truly felt spring-like. The ice was getting thinner in the middle of the lake and goner on the edges.
Lake Lucerne
Some trees and bushes were budding.
Lake Lucerne
Squirrels! Albeit this is one of the unfortunate side effects of spring
Lake Lucerne
Batches of maple syrup were filtered and bottled all week and weekend.
Lake Lucerne
The ice is in retreat!
Lake Lucerne
Still, there's a lot of retreating to go.
Lake Lucerne
The ice is still pretty tight to the East and West shores.
Lake Lucerne
Creeks and streams are flowing into the lake stronger than at any time this year.
Lake Lucerne
Golf! Nicolet Country Club officially opened on the weekend. There's holes, flags, and everything.
Lake Lucerne
The water hazards are not so hazardous.
Lake Lucerne
We've entered that time of maple syrup season where the tappers have become a collection of pulled muscles, bruises, burns, and sleep deprivation. The maples have been dismissive of our plight and have continued to gush forth a mighty flow of sap. It could be a record year. The ice covering the lake is getting thinner. We did not get a thinness check due to pulled muscles, bruises, burns, and sleep deprivation. It's surely over a foot thick in the middle, but a few more weeks like this and it'll be gone.

-Nemo plan; collect at 3 and cocktails by 6.
