The First Horseman of the Snowpocalypse
November 25th through December 1st

We started last week with some open water. That didn't last. On Wednesday, November 26th, a light dusting of snow confirmed that ice had claimed the lake in its entirety.

The day before, we spotted some deer tracks near the public landing in addition to what turned out to be the last open water for the year.

Just North of the landing, some pier sections stand frozen in the ice.

We're not sure what the plan to get the sections out before the ice was, but we were reminded of the old saying,"Man plans, God laughs".

We got the Knottlane UAV up to confirm that there was no open water.

There wasn't. The islands were still there though.

Looking to the West, 400 feet above the Crandon Water Shows ski course, it looks like Metonga is also ice-locked.

We continue to be surprised at how well the noisy little beastie has performed so far in the great un-balmy sky above Lake Lucerne.

On Potawatomi Trail, just at the turn to go the the dump, a deer that either succumbed to the cold, gunshot, or Chevy is being picked on daily by a murder of crows and one really big eagle.

The brat stand by Schaefer's has a new drive through! What the carpenters lacked in quality (it was remarked that the cuts looked a little rough) they more than made up for with speed.

Last weekend kicked off with one of the more festive bar nights of the season. The fiery Bailey's Comet flames were mostly contained within the shot glasses.

Mostly

.

While in the extreme Southwestern corner of the lake area, we obtained special eye protection for drinkers of alien based shots.

This allows up to 4 patrons to enjoy the greenly good "Alien Secretion" without any risk to their retinae.

Given last year's appearance of the rarest of the Four Horsemen of the Snowpocalypse, we had hoped not to be honored/froze this year with another visit from Albino Thanksgiving, but no. Thanksgiving day was football and food filled, and quite snow covered. Will the lake be haunted by the other three (Silenced Spring, ZOMBIE WINTER, and January) before Winter ends? We've got a bad feeling about at least one of 'em.
