Pumpkin Carving Week
October 7th through 13th

There was not much rain this week, but the lake level continues to rise. Inflows from the watershed and swan displacement were cited as two probable reasons for continued shore shrinkage.

The day after the "Blood Moon", Luna continued to light up the northwood's night with reflected sunlight. All we saw were clouds during the "Blood Moon" 15 hours earlier.

After being grounded last week, the knottlane drone was itching for some sky time. We wanted to image the post-peak foliage so, despite a bit of wind, we let the thing roam the big blue.

There is still some color in them trees, but it's going fast. This was the first time we deployed and recovered the drone from a pontoon carrier.

The last of the big lifts were pulled from the 54℉ degree water on Saturday. It was remarked that Fifty Four degrees Fahrenheit is an okay temperature for cocktails, but a poor temperature for swimming.

Pumpkin Carving! About a dozen of us laid blade to gourd. We continue to be amazed at the creativity and awesomeness that ends up lighting the bar's deck.

All those fresh-from-the-oven, roasted pumpkin seeds made us thirsty.

To quench that thirst and chase away the chill in the air, Pumpkin Carving featured "Flaming Shot Night". The Bailey's Comet was the flamey-est...

Others were less fiery, but still tasty...

Some were layered...

All involved overproof rum...

The internet can be a dangerous thing on "Flaming Shot Night".

The 2014 Pumpkin Carving week is in the books. It's been observed that with the end of Pumpkin Carving, the year is getting a little long in the tooth, but there's still ice-in, the opening of Ski Brule, holidays, and soup. Mmmm, soup! Plus there's the annual Knottlane board meeting and costume contest that will be held October 16th through November 16th in Las Vegas this year. Mrs Nemo and I will be attending so the weekly summaries will be slow in coming for the next few weeks. Throwback Thursdays will continue during this period and the ice-in contest will be put up before the end of the month. Maybe as early as next week.
