Early Winter
November 11th & 12th
The dockside pumpkin trio have over stayed their welcome.  The more and more unsightly bunch will be moved this week.
It's currently 16℉ on the shores of wonderful Lake Lucerne.  I don't care who you are, that's cold.  The creek flowing into the lake in the north end is not dry but is frozen.
The lake temperature is 45℉, far from freezing.
The lake seems warm enough for swimming if you are a small and furry critter.
Sure the creeks are frozen over, but there is no ice forming on the shore yet.  There's a trace of snow on the ground but a few above freezing days will take care of that.  The transition from Summer to Fall was smooth and gradual.  Fall to Winter, not so much.  It's as if Winter speed shifted into high gear (Winter : "We don't need no stinking clutch!") in about 36 hours.  The change was even more traumatic for those of us that were enjoying the mid 80s (℉) while walking down the Vegas strip just a few weeks ago.  Still, the prediction of mid 40's (℉) this weekend could spell golf for the hardy.  Bring hand warmers.
