Enter the Fall
October 1st through 7th
Deer are seemingly more plentiful in the woods, on the golf course or taking "naps" on the roadside.  Be extra careful driving in the evening.  Just before a deer goes down for a "nap" they have been known to dent bumpers and crumple hoods.
The week started with Fall colors and a tired Summer grabbing a bit more time at our local bandshell..  There was skiing, golf and hatlessness.  Alas, by the end of the week a big watery hook yanked Summer from the stage.  If the professional weather critics are to be believed, Fall will be getting top billing for the rest of October's run.
Just over an inch of lake depth was added to Lucerne by Sunday morning.
Rain!
There was actually a note worthy amount.
Even the water hazzards were attractive.
Before the rain, while Summer was hamming it up, the hills of NCC were dazzling.
It reminded us of that old Beatles' song "Mushroomy Fields Forever".  Or was that strawberry?  Whatever. If you need any, feel free to come on over and pick as many as you like.
We got quite a mushroom patch popping up on part of the bar's unmowed lawn.
All the year's a stage.
And all the seasons merely players.
They have their exits and their entrances.
And one season in its time plays many parts.
Summer has been, at times, hot, dry, wet, windy, calm and downright cold.  But Summer's over and we've grown to accept this.  It was either that or look like some sort of Avatar refuge after even a short swim.  The water temperature is closer to 60℉ than 70℉ and the air temperature calls for light coats.  The lake level is 34.5 inches below the nail, so we seem to be holding much of the gains made this year.  Huzzah!
