The Weekend After Labor Day

September 8th through 11th, 2011

Lake Lucerne
Flat. The lake was very unrough all weekend. As the weekend progressed, it became more and more clear that last weekend was not the best time to pull and winterize the ski boat.
Lake Lucerne
Are there any fish under the 75°F water? Yes.
Lake Lucerne
Lots of fish. The ones we saw were mostly panfish with just a smattering of bass.
Lake Lucerne
Golfballs were also found/retrieved from the very clear water. On Friday the water temperature was 72°F. By Sunday it rose to 76°F, but there were pockets of less than 70°F water shimmering in random blobs along the north shore. It would seem the springs are active. And cold.
Lake Lucerne
On Saturday evening, the almost full moon rose over the eastern shore and its reflection slow-danced on the water. If snippets of time and location could be bottled and sold to be enjoyed at a later date, this evening would be a best seller.
Lake Lucerne
The Nicolet Country Club course is in the best shape of the year. The only issue is the deeryness of some of the fairways.
Lake Lucerne
New roof! Less bumpy, more metally.
Lake Lucerne
Old Leaves! It's becoming easy to find color in the woods. Peak should be about 3 weeks away.
Lake Lucerne
Pity me, a sad and tragic figure, for our boat was out and the water was flat. All weekend. Oh cruel fate, to be thusly boned. Ask not for whom the bone bones, it bones for thee (if your boat has been retired for the year and you were on the lake this weekend). WOE! We need rain too. On the plus side, the water is still warm(ish) and there are plenty of fish.
