Footstock Weekend

Next »

August 19th through 21st , 2011

On Friday, we stopped in a small town on the way up to see a fly-over of a local football game. We stayed for the game. The home team won. The leaves! They are a changin'! Well, sort of. The color is less than 5% with many areas retaining their full greenness. Peak color should be 5 to 7 weeks away. The NCC is in good shape. Play was a little slow but the wind was lite and only one ball was added to a swamp. Footstock was held in the area on Saturday and Sunday. Stronger winds on Sunday raised some good sized chop and that made for shorter/more entertaining runs. Every run had a winner and a loser. Sometimes the losers bounced. With Footstock behind and falling leaves ahead, Lake Lucerne has entered Fummer's peak. The lake temperature is currently at 76°F. That's good for this time of year. It should be above 70°F for Labor day, making boat/lift pulling less shivery. The lake level is down about an inch from last weekend. That's still up from Spring, but some rain would be nice. The bugs don't seem as thick. The cool Fummer nights and recent dry weather may have dented their population. Plus I've swatted quite a few.

-Nemo, not bounced all weekend.
