Second Weekend in August

Next »

August 7th through 10th, 2008

We left for the northwoods after work on Thursday and arrived at dark o'clock. Skiing is not legal and golf is pretty hard this late, but the sky was clear and the stars, one moon, and some planets were out. A camera was attached to a telescope and a few images taken. I'll post those images in a few weeks if they are any good. The waxing moon was almost bright enough to ski by. The lake was flat all weekend. Skiing and kneeboarding were done all weekend on, and just above, the surface of the lake. Mrs Nemo followed on, and just below, the surface of the lake while SCUBA diving. I was surprised to find the deeper cribs to be almost void of fish. The water clarity of the lake was, as always this summer, excellent. We'll be back for Mrs Nemo's birthday next weekend. On the way up north this time, Mrs Nemo found out again that I would make a crummy doctor...
Mrs Nemo : "I've got this pain in my side"
Nemo : "Have you been hit with a hammer there lately?"
Mrs Nemo : "No, not lately."
Nemo : "Well, I guess we can rule that out."

-Nemo
