The Start of Deer Hunting Weekend

November 16th through 28th, 2007

Lake Lucerne
We found the lake to be far from iced over. The water level is lower than ever. It's at about 24 inches below the nail.
Lake Lucerne
Lake Wabikon is almost frozen over. There are some open spots but it's almost impossible to put a boat in to get to them.
Lake Lucerne
Squirrel stew. What can I say about it that hasn't been said? Aside from the creepy aspects (they look like little people!) the taste was not terrible. We added some ground moose that a passing hunter had on him and played the "Rocky and Bullwinkle" theme music on the bar audio system to aid digestion.

Q: What's the best cocktail to go with squirrel stew?
A: With this type of stew, you don't want to so much as cleanse your palate but insulate it. Anything flaming works as would anything strong.

Mrs Nemo showed her stew revulsion by performing an interpetive dance that included smoke rings (I think the rings were to represent the O's in the word NOOOOOO. The very same word used over and over when we asked if she wanted a small bowl.)

Having lived past Saturday night, we spent Sunday cleaning up and servicing the webcam server. Still working on a "live" image, just need some time to try some implementations.
Lake Lucerne
Saturday was cool and grey. Sunday had a bit of blue but rain was to roll in by the evening. If the sky ever clears in the evening, comet Holmes is visible all night in the north. We hit the road just as the Packers pasted the Panthers. Here's a funny dog story.
