Vacation #1

June 3rd through 12th, 2005

Lake Lucerne
I arrived by motorcycle on Friday, June 3rd. The weather was great and I was sore after the long ride.
Lake Lucerne
The water temperature was in the high 60's°F early in the week and the lake had many days of high skiableity.
Lake Lucerne
Later in the week a kneeboard crash loosened some of my bones but I can still wiggle a few toes and can eat semi-solid food.
Lake Lucerne
The air temperature was near or above 80°F all week. Sunburn became an issue by Thursday.
Lake Lucerne
Meg did not seem to have a sunburn problem and she was a big help in getting the webcam back.
Lake Lucerne
The DSL went out on June 14th at around 1:00 AM but will be back up Thursday night. The new, faster connection really worked great when it was working. I'm still looking at a reflector site to speed the webcams downloads. The webcam page is going to change (for the better) soon.
Lake Lucerne
While diving, finding a fishing lure is not usally a big deal, but I found this package of "Berkley PowerBait" with 3 unused baits sealed inside.
Lake Lucerne
A large, loud storm hit on Thursday evening. Meg called sunburned and sore me out to try to photograph some of the lightning. A little sun was still present but it could still be considered "dark" so I gave it a shot.
Lake Lucerne
I ran out of film right after this bolt.
Special Underwater Anchor Repair Section
Lake Lucerne
There were problems with the location and condition of a raft anchor south of us.
Lake Lucerne
Long exposure to the lake had caused chain to become "thinner".
Lake Lucerne
One link became to thin and a float was lost.
Lake Lucerne
We found some block with a less thin chain and moved it a little west.
Lake Lucerne
A cool blue covered cable was used to add more block and attach a new float.
Lake Lucerne
Meg helped.
Lake Lucerne
After the cable was attached I piled some more block on the top.
Lake Lucerne
Smallmouth bass shadowed me the entire time.
Lake Lucerne
After the anchor repair I had a few hundred pounds of air left so I went exploring a little bit deeper and found a crib.
Lake Lucerne
I looks like this bottle marked it last year but has since lost it's buoyancy.
Lake Lucerne
It was hard leaving on Sunday but we'll be back.
