Saturday morning was calm, cold and cloudy. The flat lake called the skiers but none took up the challenge.
Some snow still survived in the shadows.
The pumpkins from Halloween did a good impression of the melting Nazis from the movie "Raiders of the Lost Ark". The display was a tribute to thespianism and juiciness.
The tennis ball mortar did not have the range we thought it should. It was still entertaining.
I was taunted into doing one last swim this year. A number of thoughts came to me during the brief time I was in the water: refreshing, cold, disturbingly cold, hypothermicly cold, do not attempt this without adult supervision.
One of my last thoughts was, ".enough of this nonsense". and a mad dash was made to the dock. Thus ended the latest swim in the lake this year (ever?).
We were honored with the task of righting Rogue Power's thermometer.
It was not as eventful as I had imagined.
Construction continues just down the lane from us (it looks like they are almost ready to pour the foundation). There is no ice on the north end and the lake is at a low for the year (4.5 inches above the nail). The next swim will be in just a few weeks if I can ever get warm again..
