Getting Back on That Horse

July 17th through 21st, 1996

We made it up on Wednesday again, just a few days after leaving to get work all caught up. The weather at the start of this long weekend was bad, but it got much better. At the end of the rain on Thursday, there was a rainbow. The fishing during the rain was not that bad. As the clouds moved out and the blue moved in, the rainbow got bright and broke up. The raspberries are coming in nicely. As the weather improved, so did out appetites. Copper Country bar and eatery came to the rescue. Their menu is huge, well priced, and a waste of time on buffet night. So much food, so little time <sigh>. That night was spent digesting on the dock as we watched the Milky Way move slowly West over the lake. We made it a point to paddle around the lake this weekend before the fear of last weekend's events set in and made us 'round the lake phobic. Lucy dog was just one member of the somber crowd that showed up to to see us off. On the south end, we stopped at Lake Lucerne Resort for provisions for the long trip back. I love their stairs. With ample supplies in hand, both the cheesy and the sour cream and oniony, we headed back. I don't know much about this bridge over an inflow on the southwest side of the lake, but it's pretty cool. Afterward, there was some celebratory sailing. There was also some skiing, diving, and swimming. With all the wet weather, the lake level is holding at record levels. We'll be back in a week or two and it should be noted that Old Dutch makes a tasty chip.<br><br><br>-Nemo no longer twitches at the mention of the south end of Lucerne
