Summer of '75

"Giant perch!", cried the kids helping clean the previous day's catch. "Giant" in this case is a relative term describing a perch about an order of magnitude larger than the tiny bait-stealers we have come to know and loath. The fishing on Lake Lucerne this summer is good, as is the swimming, hiking, diving, and the raft. The only complaint we kids have is being assigned the odious task of burying the fish guts up in the woods. It's agreed that we would rather be swimming, diving, hiking, or playing Rafto than digging in the rocky forest above Timber Shores.

There was a birthday party for a local one year old. Our one and a half year old attended and got a tasty balloon.

When not partying with people newer than she, our one and a half year old spent much of the time avoiding "Nicky" the dog that she was convinced was going to eat her.

The friendly lab would find her once or twice a day sending our one and a half year old screaming and scurrying for the safety of cabin three.

This was the third year we've stayed at the lake for two weeks. So much better than the one week stays in 1970, '71 and '72. Lake Lucerne is as clear and cold as ever. It should also be noted that, contrary to the beliefs of one and a half year olds, Nicky the lab never ate anyone.
