More Rain, No Snow.

November 4th through 10th, 2024

It rained last week. It was the kind of rain that turns professional tanners into amateur swimmers. It also got noticeably colder. Fortunately the two weather events did not collide in a bury of snow. The ice and measurable snow has yet to come, so the condition of Knott Lane is still good. The first round of rain ended Wednesday morning. The 3 day total of just under 2 inches should keep the <a href='/LakeLevel/LL2.html' class ='defaultlink2' target='_blank'>lake level</a> from falling much more before ice-in. Lucerne's temperature is falling, too. It hit 50°F before the weekend and dropped below that by Sunday. There ain't no color left in them trees. The hills around the lake have fully embraced the shades of gray color palette that precedes the white. Most of the autumnal tree color seems to have found its way into the lake. More specifically the north shore of the lake. We mined quite a bit of it before we got down to sand. It was not all clouds and rain. There were a few evenings that included sun and flat water. Nobody skied, especially me. We're not sure if the fish were still biting last week. We saw only one lone fisherperson on the north end of the lake. By the week's end, all agreed it was time to lower the mower deck and get in the last grass cutting of the year. Most sunsets last week were hidden behind clouds and rain or completely clear but the one on Thursday suprised us with a splash of joy. At week's end, the air was colder, the snow was closer, and the lake was deeper. For the past 16 years, this has been the time to get knottlane's code monkeys working on the annual ice-in contest.
