Last week started off in typical autumnal fashion. It was dry with highs in the 60s°F and lows in the upper 30s°F (no frost yet though!). Then it got warmer. By the weekend, highs touched 80°F and all was right with the world. It won't last, but it made for a great week.

In addition to warm and dry, the wind was lake flatteningly calm much of time.

The joy of warm, dry, and calm was augmented by still having a ski boat in.

We did more skiing last week than at any time during the year.

It was a bit traumatizing pulling the boat from the lake on Saturday, but the pontoon crane guy is scheduled to pull lifts from the lake on the 1st of October and our desire to remain hernia free (that lift is really heavy) overcame our desire to ski.

In a little more than 6 months, we and many others on the lake will be putting them back in.

There was also some voluntary swimming last week.

On Monday, the lake temperature was below 70°F. The cool mornings kept the 80's°F air from warming it up much, but diving was still not so shivery.

The local golf course was still in good shape even after the "Sanding of the Greens"

We are considering a new rule. Any woman that can smack their drive close to the 200 yard marker on nine should play from the white tees.

At the start of the week, there was some, but not a lot, of color in the trees.

At the end of the week, there was more.

There were some good golds.

There were some good reds, too. There's still a lot of green, but that should change soon.

Most mornings included a steaming Lucerne.

Evening accessories included a super flat lake to reflect an occasionally interesting sky.

On Sunday, a team of local footballers had a game just south of the lake. It was pretty well attended. Special thanks to Dennis and Jenny for scoring us seats to witness the event.

Most, but not all, of the visiting team's players wore purple.

In hindsight, it may have not been a good idea for the home team to spot the purple guys 28 points.

After the game, a running back that wore green and gold last year before he became all purple and evil, did a Lambeau Leap into a disturbingly large group of purplies. To be fair, the running back's defection was more a salary cap/management thing than any type of character defect and the hometown crowd gave Mr Jones quite the ovation when he was introduced.

We hit the 80's°F a few times late last week, but with dew points in the 50s°F, it didn't feel like 80°F. This was especially so when a cloud covered the sun. It felt like the start of fall. Despite the Autumnal feel, it has been a legendary end for summer 2024. With a final game of Rafto, just a little more color in the trees, and the carving of pumpkins the end of the summer will be complete. Fall is usually a drier if not the driest season. This fall has been very dry. We are increasingly curious about the amount of lake level we've lost during September.<br><br><br>-Nemo, sore from skiing, should have done one more run.
