Last week started off as the week before ended. It was hot. Then a cold front muscled in and the heat became only part of the rich and diverse oral history of the summer of 2024. Don't be fooled, it's still warm out there in the northwoods, but not the oppressive heat that pushes even non-swimmers into the deep end of Lucerne.
Monday's brutal heat (mid 80's°F) and Wednesday's Autumnal chill (mid 60's°F) kept the ski show crowds down.
By Sunday evening, the summer warm was back. The cool spate was over and we were returned to our regularly scheduled weather. Huzzah! If you have so far avoided injury, there's still time. There are plenty of weeks left to cram in as much fun as possible before the fall steals the swim-able from the water and graffities up the leaves with reds and golds.
-Nemo, sort of uninjured, but still trying.
