A Little Rain, A Lotta Hot

It was a little less wet last week than it has been in the past several weeks. Altogether, May was a wet month. The rain has greened up the trees, caused lawns to need cutting every 6 days, and made <a href='/LakeLevel/LL2.html' class ='defaultlink2' target='_blank'>Lucerne 3 inches deeper</a> since May 1st. In addition to the lake level being up, the water is warmer, too. It finished the week close to 68°F, making swimmers extra happy. There was some wind during the rain. Enough wind to dislodge an umbrella from a hand or dock or something. It floated to the north end. While we were lowering a boat to rescue it, it sunk about 20 meters from shore. Thanks to Lucerne's clarity, we spotted it in about 3 meters of water and recovered it with a fishing rod. If it's yours and you want it back, contact us. If we don't hear from anyone, we'll apply maritime salavge law. The local golf course is in good shape. All the rain has made water hazards particularly perilous. The day's rain held off until we were putting on six. Five and a half rain free holes is better than some have experienced this May. The rain and warmer weather is making the plants really happy. The only plants showing a bit of sadness are the trillium. Trillium season, for the most part, is over. With the piers, lifts, and warm weather in, it's time to join boat to water. The boat landing is in good shape. With the lake level up, launching a boat is easy this Spring. The fire danger is low. Campfires are becoming more commonplace around the lake. At least one sunset last week extended the campfire theme to the sky. With piers, lifts, and boats in, it's time to scrape a few knees, pull some muscles, and scratch those bug bites. The rain has made for a bumper crop of mosquitoes. I don't remember them ever being this thick in the woods. Pollen counts are high, too. The wise summer fun pushers have already stocked up on ibuprofen, Bactine, and tourniquets. This spring, you may want to include Zyrtec to that list.<br><br><br>-Nemo seems to golf better in the rain.
