Last week started off with sun, seasonal warmth, and a falling lake level. We need rain. The lake is high enough to pass on snow though. Snow in late April is rarely, if ever, wanted.

We did get some wind. From the South. Surfable waves pounded the sand and rock on the north shore. Cowabunga!

When the dark o'clock sky was clearish, a setting moon made for some unique early season tanning opportunities.

The lake temperature peaked around 52°F, then fell back to 49°F for the weekend. Not many people voluntarily swim in Lucerne during April. This year has been no exception.

On Tuesday, dark clouds rolled in and the promise of rain was in the air (and the forecast).

The totals from the overnight storm was best described as "not much".

At mid-week, the area around Lucerne was a little greener and the lake was a little lower.

By the end of the week the waves were back, but smaller. The new "Fun Sized" waves were only surfable by chipmunks and smaller squirrels.

Local squirrels did not express any interest in any form of aquatic athleticism.

Their interest in making bird feeders empty continues to plague the bar.

Feeders were filled almost daily under the watchful eyes of young couples.

It's getting to the point that the "Time to fill the feeder, bro" look is replacing having to actually check the bar's the feeder.

At end of the week, the first sort of official Bar Night was held.

The night was filled with pool, drinks, and video from last year's ski show. This year's first ski show is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 at 6pm at Water's Edge.

It started raining Sunday afternoon. It hasn't stopped. It's safe to say that the lake level won't be going down this week. Yeti's and Eats & Treats are open and the nets are up on the tennis courts at Cardinal Park. If the rain ever stops, there'll be ankles to be twisted and ice cream to ease the pain. Ice cream may also work to keep the swelling down, but the lake currently does a fine job (currently 49°F) on that without the sticky mess.
