Post-Peakpocalypse

October 2nd through 8th, 2023

Associating last week with an apocalypse may be a bit of a stretch, but it was wet and high temperatures dropped from sweltering to shivering in a few days. To those that love summer, it felt a bit like Armageddon.

The rain came just before the weekend. We didn't get a deluge, but it was enough to dampen the entire day.

Most boats are off the lake. The pontoon crane guy is scheduled to take out the remaining lifts next week.

By the weekend, Lucerne's temperature dropped under the swim/no swim line (62°F).

The post peak era is being expressed in the surrounding forest with more browns and bare branches.

There are still some trees that have refused to move on past peak color.

The NCC golf course is keeping the falling leaves mostly off the course with the biggest leaf blower we've ever seen.

The moist, cooler weather is keeping the course's water hazards full. They're still not frozen though, so Huzzah!

On the weekend, clouds cleared out and set the stage for the first frost of the fall.

On the weekend evenings, Lucerne was very quiet and calm. Unless you startled the ducks. Then it got all quacky and splashy.

Wind, rain, and fading colors ushered in real fall last week. Real fall has a nasty habit of suddenly becoming fake winter when the first snow flies and spotting the hatless becomes rare. With the rapidly falling lake temperature, we'll get this year's ice-in contest up sooner than you might otherwise expect.
