Last week had more than its share of cold and even a bigger heaping helping of snow, but by the end it was clear that Zombie Winter has left the stage and no amount of cheering or feet stomping would bring him back for an encore. It need not be stated that if said cheering and foot stomping occurred in the bar the offender would have been booted from that bar night. The bar has a strict no profanity rule. At this point in the season, I can't think of anything more profane than a call for more Winter.
Early in the week it was warm enough to rain. We got an additional quarter of an inch after this image was taken.
In another sure sign of Spring, Eats & Treats is open!
We are still working on the details, but we are thinking of making a contest out of trying all 44 flavors between Memorial day and Labor Day. We're thinking of a drawing during the Knott Lane Open on Labor Day weekend of all the 44 flavor completed people for cash and insulin or something. If we do it, we'll post the details sometime after ice-out.
By the end of last week, lawns went from white to greenish brown, roads went from snowy and icy to clear and dry, and the calendar went from January to April. Huzzah! We would have had a few celebratory cocktails or worked on our tans if we could have found 360 corks for the dripping maples. We couldn't. Until the trees stop leaking, you'll find the sober and pasty in the woods hauling out gallons and gallons of sap for the next few weeks. We'll also be monitoring the lake ice and boiling all that sap down.
-Nemo can't wait for the days where ice-cream actually melts outside.
