Last week started off rather wintery or at least late Fally. There was wind. There was cold. There was snow. Nobody skied.

The inch of snow that covered decks and lawns Monday morning had a hard icy shell.

The temperatures limped into the 40's°F and most of the snow melted.

There are still few boats in the water, but some would get a flying start and do short footin' runs on the North end of the lake.

By Tuesday morning, most of the snow had been replaced by patchy fog. It was at this time that the officers and janitors of knottlane called an emergency board meeting and pool party to discuss the lack of Spring in the northwoods. We put down our pens and mops and headed to the extreme southwestern corner of the lake area.

On the way there, it was observed that the snow was still pretty deep in the lumpier parts of the route.

As the caravan of board members and janitors headed farther west, the snow disappeared. The lumpiness, not so much.

No trillium have been sighted around Lucerne yet, but the trees in the extreme southwestern corner of the lake are in full leaf.

On Friday, a motion was put on the floor to discard Winter and bring forward a Summer preview. It was seconded and passed unanimously. On Saturday, the temperature on the North end of the lake soared to 76°F. With our work on the weather done, the conference turned its focus to new cocktails and the proper amount of maple syrup to add to an Old Fashioned. We'll keep you posted.<br><br><br>-Nemo will fix it one vote at a time.
