There was plenty of sun and blue last week. There was also a few noteworthy storms. Ultimately, by the end of the week, the sunscreenless were burned and the lake level remained high.

During the entire month of July, there are water shows on Monday and Wednesday at Water's Edge Pub and Eatery. The show last Monday was distinguished by its excellent pyramidship.

The after show sunsets were nice, too..

In between shows, there were plenty of opportunities to work on tans and torpor.

The rocks on the North end of the lake did not attract any divers all week. That'll change soon, gotta get us some rock diving.

The second ski show of the week started off well. Many acts in the pre-show could have been in the main show..

The opening barefoot line was a clinic in footmanship.

While the dropped skis were gathered and feet were cooling off, a huge storm parked itself over Lake Wabikon to the East of Lake Lucerne. No rain made it to the crowd, but right before the second act, lightning struck just off the shore about 500 feet from the crowd. It was much closer to one of the tow boats. The boat was fine, the driver may have a little hearing loss, and the observer got a little singed. The powers that be voted to delay the show for 30 minutes. The lightning and thunder did not stop and the show was delayed until next Monday.

By morning, there was evidence that overnight the rain made it to the lake.

The lake went up by half an inch plus the inflow from the watershed.

Local vegetables seem content with the storms and heat of last week.

The northshore sugermen have been mining wood between the drops for the 2020 maple syrup season. Their progress was impressive, but they still have a cord or 5 to go.

Just before the weekend, the lake got angry and more storms were forecast. The rain passed under the lake area and the wind helped us dry out.

A new sign on loan from the Walerko wing of the Louvre was added to the bar in time for its unveiling on Friday's bar night.

Friday's well attended affair lasted far into the night.

Shots included the tasty (Alien Secretion, Baliey's Comet, and seen here, the flaming Banana).

and the untasty (like a product of a gypsy curse!)

Over it all, an eagle rode the thermals making squirrels nervous and fish into meals.

The flash, BOOM that attended the Wednesday ski show provoked several reactions ranging from frozen people asking if that really just happened to a few impolitic words prefacing a scramble off the show dock. You should have been there, it was fun. The weekend held the Kentuck Day Festival at the courthouse square in Crandon. Unfortunately, we don't have any images from the event. We instead chose to attend Germanfest in Milwaukee. There was good sausage, beer, and a nice air show. On our way down to Milwaukee, and during an earlier short trip to Antigo, we observed the devastation of the July 19th/20th storm. Thousands of downed trees litter the roadside along with an army of WPS workers trying to repair power lines. One hundred mile per hour straight winds: Fear them. Fear lightning, too.<br><br><br>-Nemo will forever kick himself for not getting those ski show lightning shots.
