Real Summer

June 24th through 30th, 2019

The best word to describe the first full week of Summer would be Summer. Last week was wonderfully warm, mostly sunny, and occasionally wet. The sounds of loons, frogs, boats and splashing, happy childern of all ages filled the air. The feel of the 73°F lake contrasted nicely with the +80°F air temperature. Last week didn't hold buckets of rain, but there were some respectable storms. The record lake level is holding. The lake level is holding, but the ponds around the lake are shrinking under the hot Summer sun. We'll need a few good storms if we are to avoid a repeat of the Great Tadpole Tragedy of 2018. The crowd at last week's ski show was larger than the previous one. As word passes around, the quality of the acts should swell that crowd to standing room only. Many of the sunsets last week were worth a peek. The joyous laughter from last week can still be heard echoing off the hills around Lake Lucerne. At the start of the marathon that is Summer, when the weather is so perfect, pacing can be thrown out and sprinting becomes the rule. We'll pay for it later in muscle pulls and exhaustion, but for now Carpe Diem!

-Nemo fell overboard, came up laughing.
